Over The Hill And Into The Rabbit Hole

Suddenly they appeared in a clearing surrounded by hills in a sudden puff of smoke. Kanu standing Over Stryfer as she panted heavily. staggering slightly before catching her balance. refusing to fall down to her knee. Taking a moment to look around them. Night fall approaching the area as the sun barely peeked over the horizon. The spell being very taxing on her to cast, yet she remained standing. On guard as she made sure there was no danger around them. Her head was spinning, vision blurred as she continued to pant heavily. Slumping over slightly. catching herself with her hands against her knees.

Darkness, he didn't know where he was. It looked like....an abandoned church. Automatically, he felt apprehension. Something wasn't right about this place.....it seemed......familiar. His head began throbbing once more and it wouldn't give up. He just wanted to leave this damned place. He didn't feel safe. He was sure he had been here but he didn't want to remember where from..... He wandered around aimlessly until he came across an abandoned orphanage. He wanted to go in, he needed to see what was there. But something wouldn't let him. He stopped short of grabbing the knob and going in. This wasn't the time, he could always come back later. He decided to wander around until something happened. Oddly enough something muffled was coming from a familiar sounding voice.....
"S...........ry.........p.......wake up......

She continued to pant steadily as she did her best to remain standing over him. Her vision completly blurred so she simply closed her eyes. No point in trying to focus on anything when your eyes have given up trying to. For now she'd try and wake him again.
"Stry... Wake... up.."

He closed his eyes and was whisked away to his new surroundings. He gasped as he sat up, like waking from a nightmare. He was somewhere new. And Kanu looked definately the worse for wear.

by the time he had woken uo she was back in her halfkin form. Energy drained from casting that spell. Her eyes open briefly to glance at him before slowly falling forward. collapsing unconscious on the grassy ground.

Even though his body was sluggish and sore, he caught her almost instantly, head cradled in his chest.
Dammit.....she's out like a light. I gotta find out where the hell I am....and some place for her to rest....
He set off, Kanu hanging from his back, and hours after searching found some kind of military base. He arrived at the gate and was stopped by what he figured was a guard.
"Why are you here boy? Wait, is that child all right?"
He laughed in his head for a second, then got an idea.
"I was scouting for some game and I found her like this. She looks horribly worn down, we need a room please!" He tried his best to be sincere. It worked. The man hollered to his superiors and the two had a cozy room in a local barracks.
"There Nu....rest up..."
Luckily the guy was an idiot...he was nice though..... Heh....humans....they don't deserve my compassion.....let's kill them....
These thoughts weren't his own. He wondered what was happening to him. He had first heard this voice before when he had been in excruciating pain. Now it wouldn't go away. It scared him. He pushed the thought as far back as he could. Nu was exhausted. She needed to be protected. He watched over her tiny form. She recovered slowly, but surely, although he wished she was awake, company would make this place seem a little better. He relented and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Nu.....are ya in there....?"

A soft groan escaped her as his touched her shoulder. Eyes slowly fluttering open part way. Breathing steadily as a flustered tent of red stretched across her face. Reaching from one cheek t the other. Shewas warm to the touch while her eyes seem glossly and hazed. Suffering from a slight fever from pushing herself so much.
"Where.... are we..?"

He felt her forehead, she was burning up. He didn't want her to stress much.
"We're in the highlands," he smiled, "Now go back to sleep." He turned around then his smile faded, he had to find a way to make Kanu feel better.
"I'm going out for a bit, will you be okay on your own?"

unaware of her actions at all, her hand reached up and caught the end of his shirt as he was about to stand up and walk away. A childish whimper escaped her as she looked up at him with the look a child would give when they were about to be left behind. She didn't mean to do it, it just simple slipped out due to her sicken state. Her chest risen and fell steadily as she sat there quietly at first. Slowly her eyes shut again, her grip on his shirt lossening.
"O..ok. be careful."

He paused. Crimson spanning across his face as she grabbed his jacket. She must not be in her right mind, he couldn't leave her like this. He grabbed a rag and soaked it in hot water. He put the compress on her head and gently held her hand.
"Just rest up Nu" He whispered softly. "Everything will be okay..."

A soft hum escaped her once heplaced the rag against her forehead. Even if it waswarm at first, it was much cooler then she was. It was comforting and allowed her breathing to return to normal. Sighing gently after laying there for awhile. Opening her eyes part way to look up towards him.
"Are you alright?"

she culd tell omething was a bit off with him. He was still off. But she didn't want to bother him with it much. She didntwant to argue with him either. She simply let her eyes close again with a sigh.

He picked the cloth out of her lap and pressed his forehead to hers.
"Hmm....you're still kind of hot, so don't overexert yourself. You need rest."

her eyes widen briefly as he placed his forehead against hers. Her face glowing a bit more then before. Due to her fever it was a bit hard to tell that she was blushing. She simply staed t him briefly then shifted her gaze away from him. Looking down at her lap.

He tucked her in and bid her a good night, then turned to the bathroom. As he stepped in he closed the door. Serenity. Quiet. He started loosening straps, undoing belts. *chick chick* Chains were off. As he slipped his clothes off, something kept nagging at him. This other voice he kept hearing. Why does it hate so much.
Wait....he had said something earlier.....our family.....our love.....who was he talking about? What does he know?
Stry had never had a family. A love. At least not one that he could remember. What could he remember? He had been tortured for so long, been forced to do things that would make most people insane--what if he actually was? It wouldn't surprise him. He blacked out yesterday and Nu was scared pale. How shocked could he be if it had been true.
Humans aren't really rational beings to begin with.....
He took his shirt and pants off and gazed into the mirror. His silver pendant glowed as bright as always. The only happy memory he had involved it, he never took it off because of it.
"Child, you have been hurt, but do not let this bring you down. Strife will always precede happiness. Never forget this."
That nun meant something to him. He never knew what it was, but he knew she was significant. He finally shed his last piece of clothing and stepped into the shower, letting the cold water consume him and bring his mind into clarity.

She signed heavily laying in bed. She had slowly driftd off back asleep when went t take his shower. Seeping soundly as her fever finally went down. Shifting arounf in the bed, rolling over on to her side as she hugged the pillow firmly. Curling her legs up as she curled into a comfy ball. A swee smile displayed on her face.

The shower hit the spot. Stry could think clearly now. He dried off his hair and threw the towel on the rack. He was in red striped sleep clothes, his last peaceful sleep seemed forever ago, now to hit the bed. He smiled mentally.

she stired in her seep slightly. Hugging the pillow more as a heavy sigh escaped her. The smile still displayed on her lips while snugging the pillow. The mix of feeing better and a peacful rest made a world of difference. Carefree and sleeping soundly. A girl couldn't ask for anything else.

He scowled. He could never win, could he? After much thought, Stry sighed and relented, he just wanted to sleep, he'd sort whatever confusion out in the morning. He climbed in the bed and attemped to keep a safe distance away from Kanu slowly but surely drifting off to sleep.

A whimper escaped her as her comfort was disturbed by him getting into the bed. Hugging the pillow more while nuzzling her face into the cool fluffyness. If she felt content before, it was a lie. NOW she felt more peaceful and content with him beside her. The feeling of a presense of someone near while you slept was relaxing. It made one feel more protected.
After awhile of sound sleep frm the two, she'd roll over on to her other side. Facing him with a soft sigh. Readjusting herself in bed as she scooted closer to him. Curling herself up gently gainst his back, the comforable source of heat.

He took some of her blanket and covered up, their bodies radiating heat to eachother. He tried to keep his back to her, but during the middle of the night he had to roll over. And though asleep, their faces had made contact, however minimal.

a sweet scene indeed. A quiet peaceful night for them to catch up on their sleep. which they both lack. Son Stryfer become a replacing snuggle pillow for her. Nuzzling her head against his chest every now and then.
